Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com)- Mayor Levar Stoney answered the question of what can be done about gun violence in Richmond with this: "Stopping gun violence is tied to better education."
Mayor Stoney said that in order to stop the violence, Richmonders need less poverty, better housing, better schools and better education.
In Richmond, there were four shootings this past weekend, two of them were deadly.
After a weekend filled with violence, Stoney said that the adults in the community need to display the same behavior they urge the young people to have. The mayor wants everyone to learn to sit down, talk and cooperate.
The mayor also said the same thing he's said many times before when asked about this topic, that the issue will not be solved overnight. But it will take longer if people, like those on Richmond City's school board, continue to stall progress in the communities that need it, according to Mayor Stoney.
