Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - New details have been released from the results of a third-party investigation into last year’s Huguenot High School graduation shooting.
On Tuesday, Jan. 25, Richmond Public Schools (RPS) released a new interview transcript with RPS Superintendent Jason Kamras. Schools officials said they added it after learning that it was “inadvertently left out of the exhibit.”
In the new 20-page transcript, Kamras tells investigators that there were different interpretations of the home instruction manual as policy or just suggested practice. He also admits he did not take a close look at the policy until after the incident.
The third-party report was released on Wednesday, Jan. 17. The report revealed security deficiencies leading up to the shooting on June 6, 2023.
The shooting outside of the Altria Theatre left seven people injured and two – graduating senior Shawn Jackson and his stepfather Lorenzo Smith – dead. The accused shooter, Amari Pollard, is scheduled for a five-day jury trial beginning Feb. 26, 2024.
