Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The President of one of the Richmond police unions says morale is already improving among his members. Richmond Coalition of Police President Brendan Levy says he his evidence is anecdotal, but he's received texts and "high fives" expressing better moral since the resignation of Chief Gerald Smith.
RCOP was one of the organizations critical of Smith. Levy says there was a disconnect between Smith and the rest of the force. He says acting Chief Richard Edwards has already said he will visit the precincts to talk to officers.
Levy also says they want a seat at the table in the selection of a permanent chief.
