Newport News, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A new poll from Christopher Newport University sends mixed messages to Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) and the General Assembly. The poll finds Governor Youngkin's approval underwater, but also strong support for positions like putting police officers in all schools.
The survey found 41% of Virginians approve of the job Governor Youngkin is doing, while 43% disapprove. Seventy percent, however, support having a police officer in every school. While broadly, the poll found Virginians prefer investments in priorities as compared to tax cuts, nearly 50% supported doing away with the grocery tax. On masks in schools, Virginians say health data should be used to determine mask requirements (56%) versus leaving the decision to parents (41%).
The results of this poll are based on 701 interviews of registered Virginia voters, conducted January 26 – February 15, 2022. The margin of error for the whole survey is +/-4.2%.
