Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - There is a marginal risk for severe storms in the Richmond area tonight, according to NBC12's Nick Russo. Areas farther south, towards Farmville, is at a slightly higher risk for such weather.

Likely starting around 4 pm and wrapping up around midnight, tonight has potential for strong winds, lightning, downpours, or even an isolated, brief tornado. This weather system has been caused in part by the last few days' summery weather. Similarly, these kind of storms will be more common as we approach the summer months. The next few days, however, are looking significantly more temperate, with highs in the mid-70s.
