Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The head of the House of Delegates Appropriations Committee says no school district will lose funding this year or next year. Delegate Barry Knight (R-Virginia Beach) making the announcement a day after it was revealed a State Education Department error was leaving school districts around the Commonwealth $200 million short.

The error resulted from miscalculations surrounding last year's decision to cut the grocery tax. Knight, however, says there is additional revenue this year that can cover the mistake, and they will also work things out through the upcoming budgeting process. School districts themselves are in the midst of working out their own budgets.

Senate Democrats, the majority in that chamber, also said they would work to fix the issue.
