Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Animal League (RAL) is once again holding its “Operation Silent Night” adoption event with the goal of clearing the shelter ahead of the holidays.

From now until Dec. 19, adoption hours are extended and fees are discounted to $10. Pets not adopted during Operation Silent Night will spend the holidays in a loving foster home.

At the conclusion of the event, there will be a special luminary ceremony in the empty shelter. It will take place at RAL from 6 to 7 p.m on Dec. 19. The shelter will be filled with luminaries that serve as a tribute to “the pets and people who hold a special place in our hearts,” according to RAL.

“The Luminary Ceremony is a gift to the community, providing a free and open space for everyone to partake in this shared moment of reflection and gratitude,” RAL said on its website. “We welcome you to be a part of this meaningful gathering, as we celebrate the quiet beauty of the season and the enduring bonds that make our shelter a haven of love and compassion.”

More information about the event can be found on RAL’s website.
