Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond-Henrico Health District is recommending people in those two counties wear masks indoors, around non-family, no matter your vaccination status. The news follows CDC data that shows vaccinated people can spread the Delta variant, and an increase in cases in Virginia.

While it is just a recommendation, Dr. Melissa Viray, the district's deputy director, says they will encourage businesses to use their legal power to require masks. They are encouraging residents to wear them as a protective measure as well. Viray says there will need to be a substantial decline in cases for things to change.

Viray says she understands people are frustrated. She is continuing to stress vaccinations as they have been effective in preventing serious cases. She also says the more people that get vaccinated, the less likely it is a worse variant develops.
