Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond-Henrico Health District says it is beefing up its callbanks, and contacting people about vaccine appointments, in order to improve their system of distribution for Covid vaccines. Amy Popovich, Nurse Manager with the District, says the registration system has been a hinderance to getting vaccines out equitably.

Popovich says their original online system allowed people from all over the Commonwealth to sign up for events anywhere in Virginia. This lead to people from outside Richmond, but eligible, to sign up for Richmond shots. The second system, while more limited to the area, included public links, which allowed people who may not be eligible to get in line if they got access to the link. It also required constant monitoring.

Popovich says they are now calling people who have shown an interest and are eligible to set appointments directly. She says the distribution remains still at phases 1A and the top half of 1B. Popovich says it likely won't be expanded until March
