Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - To accommodate the runners set to participate in the Richmond Marathon this Saturday, city officials will be closing off streets and establishing numerous no parking zones.
The closures begin Thursday night and continue through Saturday evening. Towing will be enforced in some areas.
Major road closures include Broad Street, Monument Avenue, Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Riverside Drive, and the Huguenot Bridge. Richmond police say the best way to get around will be Interstates 95 and 64 and the Downtown Expressway.
A full list of road closures and no parking zones can be found here.
Organizers say the marathon has seen a record-breaking number of registrants this year.
“We are excited to announce that we have officially surpassed the all-time Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon and 8k participant record,” organizers said in a social media post.
Here are the race times on Saturday, Nov. 16 for all three distances:
• 7 a.m.: Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon starts at 1st and Broad Street
• 7:15 a.m.: CarMax Richmond Half Marathon start (Wave A) at 7th and Broad Street
