Petersburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A Petersburg woman has been arrested and charged in connection to a graduation party shooting in Petersburg on Sunday.
50-year-old Chantrice Mayfield faces a total of six charges, including three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of felony child neglect, and selling alcohol without a license.
Police responded to the 1400 block of Halifax Street on Sunday, June 9 just after 1 a.m. for reports of shots fired and a vehicle overturned.
A graduation party ended with two 16-year-old girls – both students at Petersburg High School – suffering from gunshot wounds. Both are hospitalized and in stable condition.
During the investigation, police discovered that multiple people under 18 attended the party. On Wednesday, June 12, police announced that Mayfield was arrested and charged in connection to the graduation party.
