Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond SPCA is waiving adoption fees for adult pets through Friday as part of its effort to free up shelter space.

Adoption fees for pets six months old or older will be waived through Friday, June 14 for qualified adopters.

The SPCA says it uses a conversation-based adoption process to match people with companions who will best fit their homes, lifestyles and expectations.

As of Tuesday, June 11, the organization said it is caring for 378 pets. Of those, 77 are available for adoption, 169 are in temporary foster homes and 132 are being prepared for adoption in the shelter.

Those interested in adopting can visit the Robins-Starr Humane Center, located at 2519 Hermitage Road. The adoption center will be open on Tuesday from 3 to 7 pm. and from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
