Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Due to waning demand from people wanting COVID-19 vaccines, the Rockwood Community Vaccination Clinic located on Hull Street Road in the old Big Lots will be closing for good at the close of business this Saturday.
David Woods is health emergency coordinator for the Chesterfield Health District. He says that there has been a constant decline in demand for vaccines at Rockwood for the past couple of weeks. Part of the reason is that the vaccine is widely available at pharmacies and doctor's offices. Health officials have seen a decline since Omicron peaked last month.
The closing of the clinic will allow the people working there to be part of the mobile effort to vaccinate people. That effort has been happening on a small scale but will pick up after the clinic closes for good. The Community Vaccination Clinic that is run by the Richmond/Henrico Health District at the Arthur Ashe Center is still open.
