Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The search for 17-year-old Mitchell Leahey, a missing senior at Hanover High School, continues.

A CODI alert was issued by Virginia State Police last week after the teen ran away following a family therapy session.

His parents are encouraging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward. They are offering a $100,000 reward for his safe return.

Police said he was last seen at around 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, in the 4900 block of Dickens Road. Henrico police have been searching for Mitchell in the area near Dumbarton and Staples Mill Road, but his parents said they believe he might have been picked up by a stranger.

“We just want you home,” the Leahey parents said in a message to their son. “We love you so much, and we just want you home with us. Everything’s going to be okay. Just come home.”

He is described as a white male with red hair and blue eyes. He is about 5'11 and weighs roughly 135 pounds. Leahey’s parents said he left with no phone, no wallet, and no jacket. With the cold temperatures, they are concerned for his well-being.

Anyone with information on Leahey’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Henrico County Police Division at 804-501-5000 or dial 911.

UPDATE: The CODI alert has been cancelled. Just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 26, Virginia State Police announced that Leahey had been found safe in Collier County, Florida.
