Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - President Biden saying the unidentified objects shot down this past weekend were not connected to China, but rather likely tied to private companies or research institutes.

Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner share the president's concern that there need to be clear-cut rules for these objects in the sky, benign or not, because they do pose a danger to air traffic. In addition, there are satellites from different countries that are used for communication.

Senator Warner says he's introduced a bill with South Dakota Republican Senator John Thune that would deal with regulations for drones, specifically as it relates to beyond line-of-sight. He says that there's a balance that needs to be met between respecting privacy and keeping commercial airspace safe.
