Shelters Across Virginia to Host Dog Adoption Event

Adoption fees will be waived or reduced at 18 shelters

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In an effort to boost dog adoptions and free up kennel space, a group of shelters across Virginia are coming together to host a pet adoption event featuring waived or reduced adoption fees.

The event is dubbed "Community SNOUTreach," and it will take place Friday, Aug. 11 through Sunday, Aug. 13. Eighteen municipal shelters and private animal rescue organizations are participating in the event.


"The Richmond SPCA and Ringdog Rescue are working with the Community Foundation to bring together a total of 18 groups who are reducing or waiving their adoption fee for all dogs this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday," says Tabitha Treloar, Richmond SPCA spokesperson. "We're really hoping to boost dog adoptions and create space for more life-saving across the region."

• Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society

• Heritage Humane Society
• Hopewell Animal Services
• New Kent County Sherriff’s Office Animal Control Unit
• Petersburg Animal Care & Control
• Powhatan Sherriff’s Office
• Prince George County Animal Services
• Richmond Animal League
• Richmond SPCA
• Southside SPCA
