Slain Covington Police Officer Identified

Was Killed During Incident at Convenience Store in Western Va.

Covington, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Covington Police Chief Chris Smith announced today that the officer that was killed during the investigation of a domestic shooting incident at a convenience store in the small western Virginia town is identified as 35 year old Officer Caleb Ogilvie.

Smith says that Ogilvie is the first Covington police officer to die in the line of duty. In addition to serving as a police officer, Smith says that Ogilvie had once served in the Marines and he also was an EMT for the city of Roanoke. Virginia State Police also continue their investigation.

Ogilvie leaves behind a wife and two kids.
