Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com)- After reaching a record high on Friday, drivers are seeing a slight dip in gas prices as the price of crude oil decreases. AAA's mid- Atlantic spokesperson, Morgan Dean, said that Virginia's state average is down by 2 cents after the weekend, leaving Richmond's average at $4.20.
Gas prices have been rising slowly all month, but began to rise exponentially last week. According to Morgan Dean, a week ago crude oil had risen to about $125 per barrel, and it is now back down to around $100 a barrel.
Dean suggests many reasons for for this sudden change in direction, as well as many reasons for gas to increase again, like summer and spring break as well as the change from winter blend to summer blend gasoline. Dean also said with the war still being among us, it's hard to tell is this is the start of a new downward trend, or just temporary relief at the pump.
