Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - This year, the State Fair of Virginia has partnered with the Children's Hospital at VCU to raise money for youth in the Commonwealth.

The State Fair put out the call for creative arts competitors and demonstrators to donate their handcrafted items to an online auction, and it received a number of donations. Fairgoers will be able to bid on items like handmade quilts, wreaths, wood carvings, original paintings and more. Seventy percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Children's Hospital at VCU and the remaining 30% will be donated to the State Fair's youth scholarship program.

All of the items will be displayed in Creative Arts in the Farm Bureau Center. Anything that is up for auction will have a QR code that will direct bidders to the online auction website.

"It's a great time to get out and ride a Ferris wheel and get some fair food, but we also have awesome partnerships both with the Children's Hospital and the Federation of Virginia food bank," says Sarah Jane Thompson, Manager of Agriculture Education at the State Fair. "So make sure to stop by and talk to these awesome partnerships while they're out here."

The State Fair runs September 22 through October 1. It opens at 10 a.m. each day.
