Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam (D) has declared a State of Emergency in Virgnia, amid reports of "dry" gas stations. The pipeline that fuels Virginia has been shut down since Friday, when the Colonial Pipeline company was hit with a ransomware attack.

Northam says the declaration will ease some rules to allow for an adequate fuel supply. The Federal Government has issued waivers as well. Virginia is now actually under two Emergency Declarations: one for the pipeline and one for Covid.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says they've also seen reports of gas stations without gas. However, they say help may be on the way, as the portion of the pipeline tht serves Virginia has been manually reopened. AAA Spokesman Morgan Dean stresses that there is not a supply issue, but a distribution issue, and that people should not panic buy.
