Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Virginia State Police responded to crash on I-95 involving a tractor-trailer. The crash took place at mile marker 84 near Parham Road, according to VSP.
The driver of a 2019 International MV 607 truck ran off the road and rear-ended a tractor-trailer stopped on the shoulder. The driver of that vehicle, Jeremy James Batty, 37, died at the scene. Police say he was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 32-year-old man from Fayetteville, N.C., was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt and was charged with improper stopping on the interstate.
The crash remains under investigation.
