Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney used much of his weekly Covid briefing this week to criticize the Richmond School Board. The Board and Stoney remain at odds over the construction of a new George Wythe High School. Stoney wants City involvement, believing the project can be done faster and larger, while the School Board is concerned about cost overruns.
Stoney has introduced an ordinance concerning money for the project in hopes of getting City Council more involved and providing more oversight. Stoney also criticized the School Board for their decision to pull the pay and job consequences from the District's Covid Vaccine Mandate, as long as the employee agreed to testing.
Stoney and the School Board have been at odds for much of the year.
