Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Tuesday’s storm system will bring heavy rains and possibly damaging winds to the Richmond area, according to the latest updates from the StormTracker8 team.
The storm system will affect us through Wednesday. As a result, multiple weather alerts will be active on Tuesday afternoon and through the night.
Rain showers begin in the morning, but meteorologist Tyler Hall says the rain will pick up after lunchtime today and continue to be heavy throughout Tuesday night.
Across Central Virginia, rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are possible, with isolated higher amounts. This may cause flooding concerns in some areas.
Tuesday will also see the threat of gusty winds. Hall says there will be sustained winds of 5 to 20 mph out of a southerly direction, which will drive temperatures up into the 60s by this evening.
The rain will end tonight between 9 p.m. and midnight. However, the gusty winds will continue overnight and linger into Wednesday.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, highs around 50 degrees, and windy conditions.
