Teen Suspect Arrested Following Shooting Outside Chesterfield High School

Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly shooting an 18-year-old near Manchester High School.

Just after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, Chesterfield County Police officers were called to the 12600 block of Bailey Bridge Road for a reported shooting.


When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound in the 5800 block of Cedar Springs Road. The man was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, detectives were able to identify a 15-year-old as the suspect shooter.

“Detectives requested and obtained juvenile petitions for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the suspect. The suspect was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, and is being held at the Chesterfield Juvenile Detention Home," Chesterfield Police said in a statement.

Police say, at this point, the investigation indicates that the victim and the suspect knew each other and had arranged to meet at Manchester High School to fight.

“Once there, the suspect fired a gun into the victim’s vehicle, striking the victim. The victim then left the scene and stopped at a residence on Cedar Springs Lane to call for help,” Chesterfield Police said.
