Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Ten Virginia localities, many of them local, are receiving, or have already received, new ballistics technology to help them fight gun crimes. The funding comes from the General Assembly and dispersed by the Attorney General's Office.
The technology scans casings, allowing guns to be identified faster. Attorney General Jason Miyares says it takes identification times down from days to minutes, allowing faster investigations. He also says it is easy to train to use.
The localities receiving the technology are Henrico, Hopewell, Hanover, Petersburg, Richmond, and the VCU Police.
