Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Thanksgiving was one of the safest holiday on the roads in years. State Police say there were four fatalities on Virginia highways from Wednesday through Sunday, which is the lowest number in at least a decade. For comparisons sake, during the more Covid-impacted Thanksgiving of 2020, 12 people were killed.
State Police Spokeswoman Shelby Crouch says tickets were also down, with the exception of speeding tickets. State Police are hoping the trend continues as we go through December, and the holiday party period.
The low number is actually against the year long trend, as State Police say we have seen record fatalities the last two years.
