Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Incumbent Democrat Tim Kaine claimed victory Tuesday night at the historic Hippodrome Theatre in Jackson Ward. At the event, Kaine promised to serve all Virginians in his third term.
Kaine beat Republican challenger Hung Cao by nearly 350,000 votes.
In his concession speech, Cao – who scored Trump’s endorsement – expressed gratitude for the campaign experience and thanked Trump for his endorsement and for sticking by him throughout the campaign.
Virginia hasn’t elected a Republican to the upper chamber since 2002. Back in 2018, Kaine won by 16 percentage points.
