Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond Circuit Court System is now showing a February trial date from Amari Pollard, the 19-year old accused of the Huguenot Graduation shooting. The trial is scheduled for February 26th through March 1st (note: 2024 is a leap year).
Pollard faces two charges: first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The charges are tied to the shooting death of Shawn Jackson, who had just graduated a short time before he was shot. Pollard does not face charges for the shooting death of Jackson's step-father Renzo Smith, although at one point, Pollard did.
The charges come as the Richmond School Board just approved a law firm to do a third-party investigation of the circumstances leading up to the graduation and the shooting.
