Charlottesville, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A UVA doctor who participated on the recent FDA advisory panel on the new Novavax Covid-19 vaccine is talking about the shot. Dr. Michael Nelson was a member of the panel, which recommended this week that Novavax get approval.

Nelson says the shot would be an option for those who do not want an mRNA vaccine, as it does not use that set-up. He says that is also why this vaccine is later in coming through the process, as the mRNA process is quicker. He says it also says the vaccine's side effect concerns are extremely limited, similar to the mRNA shots.

Nelson expects FDA and CDC approval by the end of the month.
