Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Health has confirmed the death of a child age 0-9 in eastern Virginia. As is normal, the agency did not provide any other details (other than to say it was recent) to protect the family's privacy.

However, the confirmation follows news out of Hampton Roads of the death of a 10-year old in Suffolk. The girl's mother posted about her daughter's Covid death on Facebook, and also blamed kids coming to school sick for her daughter's case. The mother said her daughter had been tasked with walking the sick kids to the nurse's office.

The mother also posted sorrow about the VDH-confirmed death, suggesting it was a separate case. Suffolk Schools did send home a letter confirming a death but did not identify the child.
