Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Health this week offered recommendations for when people should get tested for Covid-19. It comes as there is a surge of cases, and testing supplies are limited.
VDH's Laurie Forlano says people should get tested if they have symptoms, or if they are a close contact of a positive case. Forlano says the testing for close contacts should occur five days after the contact, although three to five is also an acceptable window.
Forlano says the department also realizes people are getting tested before travel or gatherings. She suggests people postpone non-essential events and not get tested to avoid stressing the system. VDH also announced that starting tomorrow, Richmond Raceway will open as a community testing center for the next week. Appointments will be required.
