Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, along with nearly three dozen other healthcare associations, is calling on unvaccinated Virginians to please get vaccinated. The plea comes amid a surge of cases and hospitalizations due to the Delta variant.

VHHA Spokesman Julian Walker says the data shows people are much more likely to have serious cases of Covid if they are not vaccinated. He says frontline workers are continuing to be under stress, now 18 months into this pandemic. He says for comparison, in July, Virginia had 195 hospitalizations for Covid, and the number is now over 2,200.

According to the Virginia Department of Health, just over 57% of the Virginia population is fully vaccinated.
