Virginia Mercury: Elections Department Offers no Relief to Chase

Leaving State Senator with Only Write-In Option

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Mercury reports Elections Commissioner Susan Beals has sent State Senator Amanda Chase (R) a letter, offering her no legal remedy to her concerns over her primary loss. Chase lost the early vote, and the Republican primary, to former State Senator Glenn Sturtevant, and Chase has since raised concerns about the early voting machine certification.

Beals, a former Chase Aide before a falling out, says Chase's concerns are more over best practices, and not the law, and therefore, there is no legal remedy. Chase's legal team made a similar determination, and decided against a lawsuit.

Chase has not yet decided on a write-in campaign. She says she will do so following her vacation.
