Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) office confirms the Governor met with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan (R) today to discuss the potential impact of "trucker convoy" protests on the D.C. area. Hogan confirmed the same in a tweet:
A spokeswoman for Youngkin says "The governor is monitoring the situation and has directed the Secretary of Transportation to work with the appropriate agencies to ensure all travelers are able to make it safely through Virginia." Convoys in Canada snared traffic, especially in the capitol of Ottawa.
The Pentagon has authorized the callup of 700 National Guard Soliders (some from the DC Guard, some from elsewhere) to help deal with traffic control. There reportedly could be multiple traffic protests in the DC area over the coming days and weeks.
