Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) office confirms the Governor has asked the State Education Secretary for a review of the African-American Studies Advanced Placement Course. The class made national news after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) raised questions about it. A Youngkin Spokeswoman says the Governor wants to know how the course fits with Executive Order One, which dealt with "inherently divisive concepts."
Multiple African-American Democrats have been critical on twitter, including Del. Cia Price (D-Newport News).
The Youngkin administration responds, saying "Partisan aversion to course review reveals they aren't serious about educational excellence or ensuring Virginia teaches all history - the good and bad."
The College Board changed the course curriculum after the Florida controversy.
