Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin's choice for Transportation Secretary, Shep Miller, told the House of Delegates' Transportation Committee that the administration has a "laser focus" on the upcoming snowstorm. The storm is expected to start impacting the Commonwealth Saturday, the first day Youngkin is in office.
Miller says the administration is working with the Department of Emergency Management and other agencies to ensure roads stay open. A snowstorm at the beginning of the month snarled traffic on I-95, leading to an over 24-hour backup on the interstate near Fredericksburg.
State Police, VDEM, and VDOT are doing an after-action report on the backup to determine what went wrong.
