Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In a letter to Senate Finance Committee Co-Chair Senator George Barker (D-Fairfax), House Appropriations Chair Delegate Barry Knight (R-Virginia Beach) says corporate tax cuts are no longer part of any upcoming budget deal. Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) had proposed the cuts prior to the 2023 session, and up until now, the majority House Republicans had backed them.

Knight says the cuts are no longer included because majority Senate Democrats made it clear they were a "non-starter." Lawmakers left Richmond this winter without agreeing to a budget deal, although they technically do not need to agree to one because Virginia is in the middle of a two-year spending plan. Youngkin has been pushing for one, however.
Barker lost his Senate primary last week.
