Nearly two months after the release of her first studio album in seven years, Freewheelin’ Woman, Jewel is hitting the road with Train on for the AM Gold Tour to bring the diverse project to fans across America.
LISTEN NOW: Jewel talks newly-announced tour, fresh album and what keeps her inspired
The album is one of the most technical and divergent projects for the 48-year-old, who said she prioritized challenging herself throughout the creation process by exploring different sounds. “I like pushing myself, I like learning, I like trying new things,” she shared. “For me not to do that would feel like I’m selling out my own soul.”
She continued, “This is the first album where all my styles are together in one place. The album has Folk music and Americana, Country music, straight-up Pop music and then this sort of Bill Withers-y, Dusty Springfield sort of soul vibe. I think it all finally came together.”
Included in the wide-span tracklist is “Dancing Slow” a collab with tourmates, Train.
“I love Pat’s voice,” Jewel said of the idea to feature Train on the track. “I think he has a really agile, amazing [voice]. He’s a great male vocalist. The song just had a great lyrical match I notice a lot of his writing.”
