He was responsible for implementing, supervising and maintaining the Wichita Public School District’s desegregation/integration plan. This plan has been recognized as one of the most effective in the nation. He also received numerous awards and recognitions for his extraordinary commitment to education and the rights of others in the community and beyond. Dr. Wesley’s vision for CUA was to promoting a diverse culture and honor our original mission of “people helping people”.
Sam Allen, CUA Credit Committee
Sam brought much to his 1977-2015 tenure with the CUA Credit Community. He worked his entire life for the Wichita School District and began in the late 60s teaching history and government courses at Mathewson High School. He also lead and represented Wichita in the "Emergency School Assistance Program" as schools began to integrate in the 1970s. Sam served in leadership in several Wichita schools, including South High School, East High School, Hadley Middle School, and John Marshall Middle School. Sam says he could not wait to get up and go to school every day of his career! To this day, he is stopped wherever he goes by a former student or colleague. He obviously made an impact on many students' lives!
Frank Crawford Jr. CUA Credit Committee
Before serving on CUA's Credit Committee, Frank spent his career in leadership and service at various area schools. He served as classroom teacher, assistant principal at Mathewson Jr. High and at North High School, as well as a principal at Roosevelt Jr. High and Brooks Jr. High. He also served as Secondary Schools Personnel Director, District Ombudsperson and was Co-Founder of Project Grow Your Own Teachers (GYOT) for the Wichita Public School System. Frank was a invaluable leader in and brought endless wisdom to the Credit Union of America board!
