In celebration of his 43rd birthday Wednesday night, singer and producer Justin Timberlake hosted a one-night concert at the Irving Plaza in New York City. He put on an extensive show, including a cake and candles moment with wife Jessica Biel as the audience and crew sang "Happy Birthday." However, most are noting his comment during his performance of his song “Cry Me a River.”

As the band took a brief interlude to move from one song to the next, Justin spoke casually to his audience, which can now be seen in a viral video. “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize” he says with a pause, before adding, “to absolutely f***ing nobody.”

For context, “Cry Me a River” has long been considered a breakup anthem inspired by his relationship with Britney Spears. It tells the story of an alleged infidelity and how Justin feels no sympathy for the ex given her actions.

When Britney Spears released her auto-biography The Woman in Me, she mentioned the song and music video by name, saying it painted her as the, “harlot who'd broken the heart of America's golden boy.” The memoir went on to detail their relationship in a way that prompted backlash against Justin. From there, Justin only commented with two words before performing “Cry Me a River” back in December, saying “No disrespect.”

Britney has since apologized for the backlash he received. “If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry,” she wrote this past Monday, adding, “I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish’ - It is soo good.”

His latest comment before performing the allegedly Spears-inspired single, is now raising a few eyebrows on social media. It’s hard to say whether this was a genuine diss or just a transition from one song to another. After all, apologizing to "nobody" would fit the vibe of “Cry Me a River.” All in all - Justin is starting his 43rd year with a bang!

On Thursday, Britney Spears shared her own potential retort to the video in question. "Someone told me someone was talking s*** about me on the streets," she wrote alongside a picture of a basketball hoop. "Do you want to bring it to the court or will you go home crying to your mom like you did last time ??? I’m not sorry !!!"

Justin will hit the road again for The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, set to kick off its first 22-city leg on April 29 in Vancouver, BC. JT will make stops all across North America in Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Atlanta, GA; Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Boston, MA and more, before wrapping up in Lexington, KY on July 9.
