Mary J. Blige is booked and busy! The R&B legend effortlessly performed “Family Affair” and “No More Drama” at the Super Bowl last weekend, alongside music giants Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and surprise guest 50 Cent.

After taking center stage at the halftime show, in a bedazzled bodysuit, Blige will be singing live at this year’s NAACP Image Awards. “Go Mary! Go Mary! The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul @maryjblige will perform at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards. It’s a family affair you can’t miss!...”, the award show’s official Twitter account posted yesterday.
Blige has won nine NAACP Image Awards, including four awards for Outstanding Female Artist. Presenters for the televised event include Issa Rae, Kerry Washington, LL Cool J, Michael Strahan, Morgan Freeman, Paula Patton, Questlove, Simu Liu, Tiffany Haddish, and Zendaya. NAACP president Derrick Johnson and NAACP Board chairman Leon W. Russell will present as well.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Samuel L. Jackson will be presented with the NAACP Chairman’s Award and 1619 Project creator Nikole Hannah-Jones with the Social Justice Impact Award. Non-televised award categories will be announced Feb. 21-25 on the NAACP website and YouTube channel at 8 p.m. ET. The virtual ceremonies will be hosted by actor and comedian Affion Crockett.
Hosted live by seven-time NAACP Award winner Anthony Anderson, the 2022 NAACP Image Awards is set to air Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET.
