Team Dylan

In the early ‘90s, before the country was politically divided, families were torn apart trying to decide if they were Team Dylan or Team Brandon. While Perry and Jason Priestly played best friends on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” their hunk status created rivalries that continue to this day.

Dylan and Brenda

Name a more iconic teen couple. We’ll wait.

Kelly & Dylan is a romance on FOX drama soap Beverly Hills, 90210, portrayed by Jennie Garth and Luke Perry. Dylan and Kelly have been acquaintances since childhood, with Kelly harbouring a life-long crush on Dylan. In the summer of Senior Year, Dylan and Kelly had a summer fling while Dylan's girlfriend and Kelly's best friend Brenda was in Paris. Kelly was often the voice of reason in their relationship citing the pain they could cause Brenda if she found out but their feelings for each other always got the best of them. When Brenda returned from Paris it became difficult for Kelly to watch Brenda and Dylan together. Dylan and Brenda eventually broke up due to new found differences. Kelly later checked with Brenda that Dylan was free to date whoever he pleased and Brenda agreed. Dylan and Kelly then started dating. Kelly then pushed Dylan to tell Brenda about his fling and he did. Brenda admitted to having a fling also and Dylan and Kelly continued their relationship. Dylan and Kelly went out on a date and while there ran into Brenda on her date. Seeing Dylan and Kelly together made Brenda feel angry and betrayed. Dylan and Kelly later told Brenda that it was her that Dylan had a fling with. Brenda being angry severed all ties with the couple. Kelly later reached out to Brenda and their friendship was repaired. The two girls later told Dylan that he would have to choose. #JennieGarth #LukePerry #KellyTaylor #DylanMcKay #BeverlyHills90210 #BH90210 #BeverlyHills #90210 #90210Forever #WestBeverlyHigh #TVSeries #TVShow #TVDrama #SoapOpera #TeenDrama #LosAngeles #California #BestTVShow #BestTVSeries #ClassicTVSeries #90s #90sTV #90sFashion #Nostalgia #AaronSpelling #DarrenStar FOLLOW: ⤵ ↪ @beverlyhills90210.tv ✔✅✔

Dylan and Kelly

Ok, maybe we spoke to soon. Not only did Dylan cheat on Brenda while she was away in Europe, but he did it with her best friend Kelly. While ordinarily this would be a huge scandal, in a true testament to Perry’s star power, fans weren’t mad at Dylan, they were just upset they couldn’t be Kelly!

Dylan McKay is a principal character on Beverly Hills, 90210. He is portrayed by Luke Perry. Dylan is introduced as an intelligent, well-read teen mature beyond his years, but emotionally scarred by his upbringing, which leaves him hostile and unpredictable at times. In spite of tough circumstances, Dylan has something of a grounded nature and perspective on life, mostly assuming nothing about others and is very clear to Brandon about his moral compass – except when he is agitated (usually by his hapless parents) and he lashes out or closes off emotionally. Dylan meets Brandon Walsh and quickly takes to him, recognising Brandon's intelligence and again, more grounded nature, which Dylan considers a novelty in the superficial Beverly Hills world. Dylan soon meets Brandon's sister Brenda and falls in love with her. Dylan's relationship with Brenda provides him with much needed love and comfort, add to the fact that they really care about each other and respect one another as individuals – in as much as Dylan is able to with his low self-esteem. Along with Brandon and Brenda, the Walsh parents also become a comforting fixture in Dylan's life, the first sense of family he had known in 10 years. With his mother AWOL and his father's neglect and abusive behavior, Dylan struggles with feeling safe and finding focus in his life, unable to take care of himself solely at 16. Dylan and Brenda become very close, while Brandon and Dylan become best friends. The trio look out for each other at all times and bring Andrea, Steve, Donna and Kelly into their soon-to-be friend group, later joined by Donna and David Silver. #LukePerry #DylanMcKay #BeverlyHills90210 #BH90210 #BeverlyHills #90210 #90210Forever #WestBeverlyHigh #TVSeries #TVShow #TVDrama #SoapOpera #TeenDrama #LosAngeles #California #BestTVShow #BestTVSeries #ClassicTVSeries #90s #90sTV #90sFashion #Nostalgia #AaronSpelling #DarrenStar FOLLOW: ⤵ ↪ @beverlyhills90210.tv ✔✅✔

The Sideburns

He started the facial hair trend and the world followed. We all thought we looked as cool as Perry. We did not.

"I felt like I belonged on a screen... I always felt like I was one of them and in a matter of time I'd get there." Actor Luke Perry, who became a teen heartthrob on Beverly Hills 90210, and later, found an entirely new audience on Riverdale, has died at age 52. Read more at the link in bio. The Vanity Fair Cover

The pompadour. The bare chest. The gun. The Annie Leiibovitz photo was sexy, racy and controversial at the time. “Is Luke a Fluke?” As if they even had to ask.

Hey Zaddy!

As Archie’s father Fred Andrews on “Riverdale,” Perry was the epitome of #DadGoals. Caring, loving, supportive and handsome as ever, is he even acting?

In his honor, FOX will donate $5 for every tweet including BOTH the hashtags #fightCRC and #BHPeachPit up to $50,000 until Saturday, August 3rd, 11:59 pm PT. I don’t have Twitter but I’m making one just to share this. Please please please tweet your strong arm selfie with these hashtags. remember this has to be a tweet not an Instagram post! Charitable Spirit

In addition to being an environmental activist and a strong LGBTQ ally, Perry was a huge advocate for colorectal cancer testing and research. While maintaining a part-time residence in Tennessee, the actor was also heavily involved with the Nashville-based nonprofit Soles 4 Souls, which distributes shoes to people in need.

I know this is comin at u a day late but Malawian internet really didn’t want to help me out so... it is Father’s Day, and dad I miss and love you dearly. But today is a special day for another reason. To the brother that blows all others out of the water. To the mentor who taught me to be brave. To the boy who I wrestled with on the trampoline. To the man who is everything I ever wanted to be. Happy birthday, you beautiful beaver boy. I wish I could be with you, now more than ever. But I’ll be there soon enough, to watch you kick major ass and have all your dreams, all the dreams I had for you, come true. Watch out though, I’ve been practicing my Canadian Destroyer...

Family Man

For all his accomplishments, it’s safe to say Perry’s proudest achievements are his son Jack and daughter Sophie. Both children have shared multiple messages expressing their love for their father, further reiterating the fact that he was an amazing man.
