It's no longer impossible!
Fans of “Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella” are finally able to stream the beloved 1997 television movie.
The fairytale classic starring Brandy in the titular role has never been available on any streaming platform, but that is no longer the case.
As of Friday, February 12th, "Cinderella" is streaming on Disney+.
Fans will also be able to partake in an official watch party at 8pm ET/5pm by registering here.
Earlier this month, Brandy first made the announcement while appearing on “The View” with the film’s co-star Whoopi Goldberg.
“It’s pretty remarkable that people have been begging for ‘Cinderella’ to be re-released for almost 24 years. I mean, what do you think, is it possible?” Goldberg said.
“It’s definitely possible. I appreciate the fans,” Brandy responded. “I’m so excited that Cinderella has a home now at Disney plus and we can celebrate, and share, and inspire a whole new generation.”
Premiering in 1997 on ABC, “Cinderella” was a ratings hit with more than 60 million viewers tuning in to see the live-action adaptation.
At the time, Brandy made history becoming the first Black actress to portray the fairytale princess on screen.
The groundbreaking film featured a diverse cast including executive producer Whitney Houston as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, Whoopi Goldberg as Queen Constantina, Victor Garber as King Maximillian, Bernadette Peters as Stepmother, and Paolo Montalbán as the Prince.
“I am absolutely thrilled that our Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella will finally be available on Disney plus!” producer Debra Martin Chase told Variety.
“As the service got up and running, I became inundated on my social media by inquiries from fans asking why the movie was not included in its programming.”
“Cinderella” has also been added to the Disney+ “Celebrate Black Stories” collection along with “Soul,” “Black Is King,” “Black Panther” and “Hidden Figures,” among others.
