She began writing the notes and leaving them in restrooms throughout the state in an attempt to be saved, reported KDKA TV in Pittsburgh. Her notes were found in bathrooms of the Walmart in Carnegie and the Fallingwater museum, said the outlet.
A stranger found the Walmart note, according to a criminal complaint.
The woman was finally found Sunday with her captor, 38-year-old Corey Brewer, when a SWAT team went to the address listed on the notes. Police say they arrested Brewer and brought the woman to a nearby hospital.
Although he did not answer the door when police first came by, authorities heard noises and returned, said the Washington Post. They also called Brewer on the phone and made him put the woman on before the Fallingwater note was found.
Brewer in the victim had dated at one point, and she sought a since expired protection order against him last summer.
Brewer is facing charges that include rape, strangulation and unlawful restraint. According to reports he was holding the woman captive since May 1 and threatened to kill her and her children if she tried to escape.
He posted $500 bail and was released from jail after being arrested, said the Washington Post. His preliminary hearing is set for July 22.
