As Halsey sings on "Bells in Santa Fe," the second track off their brand new, Industrial-leaning project If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, "Jesus needed a three-day weekend to sort out all his bulls***, figure out the treason" -- and it seems that may be just what Halsey needed as well... Some time to sort through the heavier side of their psyche. Get ready, we're all in for a dark and synthy ride.

After showing us they don't owe anyone a goddamn thing on their 2019 rock anthem "Nightmare," as well as a collab with YUNGBLUD and Travis Barker on "11 Minutes," Halsey kept busy dropping a couple of Pop tracks, had a child (NBD), and ultimately come up with a conceptualized album for their next release. Focusing on the "joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth," the new offering released on August 27 shows a completely different side of the wide-ranging artist's talents and inspirations. Along with the record comes an hour-long film of the same name, directed by prior collaborator Colin Tilley, featuring music from the album and fantastical imagery of motherhood and mysticism.

Obviously checking off a few items on their musical bucket/wishlist, Halsey is accompanied on their fourth studio release by a list of Rock heavyweights, including backing artists like Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, Foo Fighters frontman and Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, Jack Dangers of electronic music pioneers Meat Beat Manifesto, and more. Of course, that's before even mentioning the impeccable production by award-winning duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails -- whose undeniably signature sound can be heard throughout the 13-track release.
