Spoiler alert!
It looks like no additional seasons of “NCIS” for Emily Wickersham.
The actress, who’s played Ellie Bishop on the show since 2013, is leaving the popular CBS procedural. At least that’s what the season finale confirmed on Tuesday, and Wickersham’s own Instagram post, of course.
Wickersham’s IG farewell hints at the usual contractual or career decisions. “This business is finicky and weird and consistency is a rarity," she writes. But her love of the experience and the “NCIS” cast and crew expose no bad feelings.
“This cast, this crew, are top notch. I can’t say enough kind words about this group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for close to 8 years now and 172 episodes later… I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a show where I got to show up and act and laugh and learn with wonderful people. A moment in time I surely won’t forget. Thank you CBS and NCIS for including me in a part of television history," the caption continues.
Some of the remaining cast shared the love right back on her post, like actress Diona Reasonover (Kasie Hines) who commented, “Thank you for everything, friend.”
Wickersham’s closing to her IG message should be a new classic: “Time goes fast. Eat it up but chew slowly.”
If you’re a fan, don’t fret. Expect to see Wickersham on your screens again soon, as she’s been a consistent guest-star face on TV (“Law & Order,” “Gossip Girl,” “The Bridge”) since her breakout on “The Sopranos” (2006-07).
