Hundreds stand in line as world's largest White Castle opens its doors in Florida

There's a new castle gracing the lands of Orlando, Florida.

In anticipation of the world's largest White Castle opening its doors on Monday, hundreds of hamburger fans lined up for hours ahead of the first orders being taken.

The restaurant, located at the intersection of Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Parkway off Interstate 4, is 4,567 square feet in size, featuring two drive-thru lanes as well as indoor and outdoor seating, News 6 reports.

Some hungry customers began lining up the night before, camping out in anticipation of the White Castle's grand opening. Many others joined the queue beginning early Monday morning.

Lisa Ingram, President and CEO of White Castle, said of the opening, "We do know we have lots of cravers throughout Florida and we figured we start in the center, the heart of it all, and create the largest White Castle here in Central Florida."

Luckily for Disney World and Universal Studios patrons, the White Castle is not far from all of Orlando's attractions.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings expects many visitors to Central Florida this summer. "The summer is just really a blockbuster summer for us. Our hotels and our conventions are going to be working at a record pace so I'm excited about what that will mean for our community," he said.

The White Castle has alone brought 140 jobs to the area.
