Rockets veteran point guard Fred VanVleet has suffered a torn ACL, putting his season in jeopardy, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
This is a major blow to the Rockets, who have championship aspirations after finishing as the No. 2 seed last season and adding Kevin Durant this offseason.
VanVleet is the unquestioned leader of the team and was a key performer for Houston in the playoffs against the Golden State Warriors. He averaged 14.1 points and 5.6 assists in the regular season. In the playoffs, VanVleet averaged 18.7 points, including three consecutive games with 25 points or more.
