CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Browns cornerback Denzel Ward left Thursday’s minicamp practice early and did not return after suffering a left ankle or foot injury.
Ward sat on the bench for a few minutes while a trainer tended to him before getting up and walking across the field with another trainer to the Browns locker room.
“No update,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said following practice.
Stefanski was also unable to answer how severe the injury was.
“I don’t have enough details to say yet,” Stefanski said.
The first training camp practice is six weeks away.
Ward, who has made the Pro Bowl twice since being drafted fourth overall in 2018, signed a five-year, $100.5 million contract extension this offseason making him one of the highest paid corners in the game.
Greedy Williams remained out during minicamp with an undisclosed injury as he worked on the side all three days.
With Ward unavailable the rest of the way, A.J. Green and rookie third-round pick Martin Emerson Jr. joined starter Greg Newsome II with the first-team defense.
