Rebel Wilson dubbed 2020 her “Year of Health.”
While that year turned into the “Year of Binge Watching and Eating” for many of us, Wilson stuck to her workout plans and lost nearly 80 pounds.
"I got a lot of pushback from my own team, actually, here in Hollywood” said “The Hustle” star, “when I said, 'OK, I'm going to do this Year of Health. I feel like I'm really going to physically transform and change my life. And they were like, 'Why? Why would you want to do that?' Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person."
Wilson continued, sharing that started her journey because she felt that her habits at the time were not the best for her.
"I knew deep down inside,” she said, “that some of the emotional eating behaviors I was doing was not healthy. I did not need a tub of ice cream every night. That was me numbing emotions using food, which wasn't the healthiest thing."
Wilson went on to explain how, like many career women, she hit her 30s and thought about previously unexplored parenthood options, and ultimately expressed a desire to freeze her eggs.
"I'm still trying on the fertility journey,” she explained, “even though it is emotional and you get hopeful and then your hopes are dashed. So I feel for any woman going through it.”
Wilson has never shown any judgement about body issues, and said she was totally confident before her weight loss. Her decisions were primarily predicated on her health and the decision to try to have kids, and how to accomplish that at her age.
"It would be great if I had my own children, but I don't know whether that's going to happen, so I'm trying not to have any expectations set on an outcome," she explained. "Just that I'm the healthiest I can be. I'm going to try and what will happen will happen."
As her social media fans know, Wilson has meticulously documented her “Year of Health” via many Instagram posts showing off the slimming down.
“I’m proud of myself for doing it, “ said the star, “and also maintaining it.”
